Setup guide

From zero to first message in 5 minutes

This walks you through signing in with GoHighLevel, connecting a WhatsApp number, and sending a test message. No technical setup required.

Sign in with GoHighLevel

Click Continue with GoHighLevel on the homepage. You will land on a GoHighLevel page asking which agency or sub-account you want to authorize. Pick one and click Authorize.

On first sign-in, WAOS automatically:

  • Creates your WAOS account using your GoHighLevel email
  • Creates an agency in WAOS that claims your GoHighLevel company
  • Creates a sub-account for the location you picked (if it was a sub-account install)
  • Registers WAOS as a Custom Conversation Provider inside your GoHighLevel

You land directly on your agency dashboard, signed in and ready to add numbers.

Pick a WhatsApp transport

WAOS supports two ways to connect a WhatsApp number:

QR scan (WEB)

Works with any WhatsApp account — personal or business. Free. No 24-hour window. Best for trying it out or for solo operators.

Meta Cloud API (CLOUD_API)

Official WhatsApp Business API. Requires a verified Meta Business account. Stable, scalable. Subject to the 24-hour window + per-conversation pricing.

Add your first number

From the agency dashboard, click + Add number. Fill in:

  • Label — anything you want to identify this number by
  • Transport — WEB (QR) or CLOUD_API (Meta)
  • Sub-account binding — which sub-account this number sends/receives messages for

For QR scan, a live QR code appears. Open WhatsApp on your phone: Settings → Linked Devices → Link a Device → scan. Within a few seconds the status flips to CONNECTED.

Send and receive

From your phone, send a message to your connected WhatsApp number from a different phone. Within seconds the conversation appears as a thread inside GoHighLevel Conversations.

Reply directly from inside GoHighLevel — WAOS routes it back to WhatsApp. Two-way is live.

(Optional) Turn on AI replies

On the sub-account's page, click AI Replies. Toggle on, paste a system prompt describing your business, and pick a mode:

  • Suggest — drafts appear above the composer for human review
  • Auto-reply — Claude sends autonomously (only the primary binding)

You can also enable the booking, qualification, and pipeline tools — Claude will use them as needed during conversation.
